Dr. Victoria Ramirez

Dr. Victoria Ramirez began her tenure with the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) in 2019 and is leading the institution’s next chapter of transformation and the opening of the new building in Little Rock’s MacArthur Park.

With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Ramirez previously served as the of the Director of the El Paso Museum of Art and the Director of the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. Dr. Ramirez worked in art museum education at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston where she oversaw long-range planning and directed activities of the education department.

Dr. Ramirez holds a doctorate degree from the University of Houston; M.A. in Museum Education and Art History from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.; and a B.A. in Art History from the University of Maryland. She is also a Member of the Task Force on Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion in Museum Excellence for the American Alliance of Museums and serves on numerous local and national boards.

Dr. Ramirez is leading the reshaping of the AMFA to expand exhibitions and programming to reach new audiences while honoring the legacy of more than 85 years of celebrating the visual and performing arts.
